Role Overview

As a Used Vehicle Buyer at Saxtons, you will play a key role in sourcing and acquiring vehicles for our inventory. Working closely with the other members of the Buying team, you will monitor vehicle availability, assess market trends, and negotiate purchases to ensure we secure the best deals.

This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to make data-driven decisions. You will value vehicles accurately, ensuring they align with market demand, and identifying profitable opportunities. Strong negotiation skills and confidence when communicating with customers, auction houses, and trade partners are essential. You will also play a part in maintaining the integrity of our stock, verifying vehicle specification, and ensuring compliance with company buying standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor vehicle availability through online platforms, physical auctions, and live auctions to secure the best deals.
Negotiate and purchase vehicles over the phone from private individuals and trade partners.
Accurately check new purchases into stock by identifying optional extras for correct pricing.
Analyse market trends and demand for different vehicle models to optimise purchasing decisions.
Manage the disposal of vehicles to the trade on behalf of the company.
Conduct vehicle valuations to maximise profit opportunities for the business.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors and internal teams to enhance buying and selling opportunities.
Confidently negotiate prices to ensure the best purchasing terms.
Verify vehicle authenticity using industry tools to check for outstanding finance, previous accidents, or theft records.
Ensure all vehicle purchases align with company standards and compliance regulations.
Undertake any additional duties required by management.
About You

Previous, proven experience in the motor industry is essential.
Strong knowledge and passion for cars.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills.
Keen eye for detail and accuracy in vehicle valuation.
Strong objection-handling and closing skills.
Confident decision-making with a focus on business goals.
Full and clean UK driving licence.
