The Land Rover Defender has been updated for 2027, which includes a New Defender Vertex.

The Land Rover Defender has been updated for the 2027 model year, bringing refreshed styling, new finishes and additional configuration options to the popular luxury 4x4. The biggest addition is the all-new Defender Vertex, a high-specification model designed to combine the Defender’s rugged character with a more distinctive and premium appearance.

Available across all three Defender body styles, the new Vertex gives buyers the choice of the compact Defender 90, versatile Defender 110 or spacious Defender 130. Prices for the Defender Vertex range start from £92,635.

What Is the New Defender Vertex?

The Defender Vertex sits alongside the existing Defender X specification near the top of the range. It has been created for drivers who want the Defender’s well-known capability but with a more exclusive design and a higher level of standard equipment.

Land Rover describes the new model as bringing a different character to the Defender family without compromising its toughness or off-road capability. Whether used for everyday journeys, long-distance travel or outdoor adventures, the Vertex aims to offer a balance of luxury, practicality and road presence.

Available Across the Defender Range

Unlike some special editions, the Vertex is available across all three main Defender body styles:

Defender 90 Vertex

The Defender 90 is the shortest and most compact version. Its smaller proportions make it well suited to drivers who want a distinctive luxury 4x4 that remains manageable around towns and cities.

Defender 110 Vertex

The Defender 110 offers a balance of passenger space, practicality and everyday usability. It is likely to appeal to families and drivers who need additional seating without moving up to the larger Defender 130.

Defender 130 Vertex

The Defender 130 is the longest model in the line-up, offering more passenger and luggage space. The Vertex treatment gives the larger Defender an even stronger and more imposing appearance.

Bolder Exterior Styling

One of the most noticeable changes is the new Extended Exterior Pack fitted to the Vertex. This introduces redesigned front and rear bumpers, a larger profiled front grille and revised fog lamps.

A Gloss Black spoiler has also been added to the rear of the vehicle. Although relatively small, it gives the Defender a sportier finish while complementing the new bumpers and body-coloured lower cladding.

The exterior is completed by 22-inch Diamond Turned alloy wheels with a Satin Dark Grey tint and Carpathian Grey contrast. Yellow front brake callipers and matching yellow exposed rear recovery eyes add another distinctive detail.

New Colours and Matte Wrap Options

The Defender Vertex is available in a range of premium colours and finishes, including Santorini Black, Fuji White, Woolstone Green, Borasco Grey and Carpathian Grey.

One of the standout choices is the Patagonia White Matte Wrap. Inspired by the mountain peaks of South America, the wrap gives the Defender a contemporary matte appearance while helping to protect the original paintwork.

Matte Protective Film can also be added to the available paint colours. A new Gloss Protective Film option is available for drivers who want additional durability without changing the vehicle’s gloss finish.

Santorini Black has also been introduced as a new theme for the Defender 110 Trophy Edition, providing a darker alternative to the Deep Sandglow Yellow finish.

A More Luxurious Defender Interior

Inside, the Defender Vertex continues the premium theme with a choice of high-specification materials. Buyers can select Windsor leather and Forged textile seats in Ebony or Caraway and Ebony, while Ultrafabrics seats are available in Light Cloud and Lunar.

The Windsor leather option gives the cabin a more traditional luxury finish, while the new Forged textile material offers a durable alternative made from knitted polyester.

Three-zone climate control, Cabin Air Purification Plus, an air quality sensor and a domestic plug socket are standard on the Defender 90 and 110 Vertex. The Defender 130 Vertex receives four-zone climate control to improve comfort throughout its larger cabin.

New Six-Seat Defender 110 Layout

Another important update for the 2027 Defender is the introduction of a six-seat configuration for the Defender 110.

This layout features individual captain’s chairs in the second row, improving passenger comfort and making it easier to access the rear seats. The space between the two chairs also creates a more open cabin and provides additional storage opportunities.

The six-seat option gives buyers another choice alongside the existing Defender seating arrangements, making the Defender 110 even more adaptable for families, passengers and longer journeys.

How Much Does the Defender Vertex Cost?

UK prices for the Defender Vertex start from £92,635 for the Defender 90. The Defender 110 Vertex starts from £98,270, while the larger Defender 130 Vertex starts from £104,440.

Prices will vary depending on the chosen engine, optional equipment, protective film and personalisation options.

A Fresh Look for the 2027 Defender

The 2027 update does not completely reinvent the Land Rover Defender. Instead, it builds on the existing design with more personalisation options, refreshed exterior details and a new premium specification.
